Spectrum Group International CEO Greg Roberts, Stack’s Bowers Galleries senior numismatic consultant Harvey Stack, and Olympic gold medalist Brendan Hansen cut the ribbon.

[New York, New York] In conjunction with its historic grand reopening, legendary New York institution Stack’s Bowers Galleries, a prestigious retailer and auctioneer of premium collectible coins, paper money and precious metals, marked its 79th anniversary with the launch of its first commemorative North American Bison medal, unveiling of New York’s first GOLD to go™ ATM, and a newly-remodeled Upper West Side location. Proceeds from the medal will benefit the Wildlife Conservation Society’s (WCS) renewed Bison Restoration Project underway at the world famous Bronx Zoo. Olympic gold medalist swimmer Brendan Hansen, 2012 gold medal recipient in the 4X100 medley relay, along withrepresentatives of the WCS and numismatic legends Harvey and Larry Stack, attended the ribbon cutting and unveiling on August 23, 2012, at the 123 West 57th St. location.

The North American Bison medal is available for purchase in two versions: a one ounce silver piece and one-half ounce silver piece. The front of the medal depicts an image of the bison at Yellowstone National Park. The reverse sides feature two separate images of the Bronx Zoo. The medals retail for $79.95 for the one ounce piece and $39.95 for the half-ounce piece.

The GOLD to go™ ATM is the first for New York City. Customers are now able to purchase a variety of gold and silver bar and coin products during store hours, including the Bison medals. This ATM joins only two others operating in the U.S. — one in Las Vegas, and another in Atlantic City.
