LONDON 2012: First Coin in a New Series Unveiled

[LLANTRISANT, PONTYCLUN] The first UK coin to have been designed by a child is now available for purchase. Nine-year-old Florence Jackson of Bristol designed the first in a series of 29 50-pence coins commemorating the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Her winning reverse design depicts the high-jump. The obverse features Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
